I’m Amy Smalley
I’m the mother of 3 young adult children who still do their laundry at my house and leave all the kitchen cabinet doors open. I am crazy about dogs and have 3 of my own, but I also take care of my daughter’s cat (who loves me) and her guinea pig (who doesn’t seem to have a preference about me one way or the other). My husband and I always try the calamari no matter what restaurant we dine in, I make a killer banana bread, and I always take too many pairs of shoes on trips. I’ve tried to quit Diet Coke several times but have decided it will just have to be my vice. I’ve been a literacy tutor and started a Friends of the Library program in rural Kentucky. I led toddler storytimes as Mother Goose, have been a vintage and antique online bookseller, worked at Barnes and Noble, and am a “semi professional” book club organizer. The way to my heart is through books, dogs, and wine (if you want to get me a bottle, I adore a good Spanish Albarino).
I’m Carrie Vittitoe
I am a mom of one young adult and two teenagers. I love cats (and have two) and like dogs but not enough to commit to a live-in relatioinship. I work several part-time jobs: 1. teaching English and Social Studies at a cottage school; 2. working with credit recovery high school students at a nearby public school; 3. freelance writing for local magazines; and 4. consulting work for an educational nonprofit. I’m kind of a curmudgeon.
